At just 13, James was discovered by Arsenal and trained with the boys’ team – two years later, she made it to the women’s first team.
After coming off the bench in the 67th minute, James made her debut for Arsenal against Everton, coming on as a substitute in a 2–0 win.
In October 2018, James joined United from Arsenal, where she was the second-youngest player in the club’s history.
After scoring three goals in United’s first four matches, she was crowned September’s FA Women’s Championship Player of the Month.
During her time with the United, she netted 14 times and earned a call-up to the England Under-19 team for the 2019 UEFA Under-19 Championship as a result.
The day before her 18th birthday, James scored our first-ever goal in the Women’s Super League, leading to a 2-0 win over Liverpool.
Chelsea Move
Chelsea and Manchester United have reached an agreement on a transfer fee for Lauren James.
Up to £200,000 will be invested in the deal, including bonuses, and is a record transfer between two Women’s Super League clubs.

James is the younger sister of Chelsea and England defender Reece James.
