Two people were killed and four injured in a wrong-way crash on South DuSable Lake Shore Drive in Hyde Park, early Saturday morning.
Chicago police reported that the crash happened just after 3 a.m. near the 5200 block of South Lake Shore Drive.
A 20-year-old woman driving a grey sedan allegedly traveled northbound in a southbound lane, colliding head-on with a white sedan carrying three passengers.
The impact caused the white sedan to continue down the road, where it collided with another white sedan that had one occupant.
The 20-year-old driver of the grey sedan was found unresponsive at the scene with severe injuries. She was taken to the hospital, where she later died.
The Medical Examiner identified her as Deja Palmer. Family members confirmed Carl Irvin, 36, was the other fatality.
A passenger in the grey sedan sustained serious neck injuries. The driver of the first white sedan was injured in the leg and is in serious condition.
Two passengers in that sedan were also hurt—one with neck injuries in fair condition, and another in critical condition.
The driver of the third car injured his head and neck and is in fair condition.
