Louisiana State Police investigators are searching for the driver of a pickup truck who fled the scene of a crash that claimed the life of a motorcyclist in St. Bernard early Monday morning.
Kyle St. Angelo, 26, of St. Bernard, died after his motorcycle slammed into the truck, which turned in front of his vehicle, according to authorities.
The wreck was reported about 3:15 a.m. on St. Bernard Highway at Riverbend Drive.
St. Angelo was riding northbound on the highway on a 2004 Suzuki DRZ 400 motorcycle, State Police said. As he neared Riverbend Drive, a pickup trucking traveling south on St. Bernard Highway made a left turn.
St. Angelo crashed into the passenger side of the truck and was thrown from his bike. Although he was wearing a helmet, he suffered fatal injuries, State Police said.
The truck’s driver did not stop, nor did the driver call authorities to help St. Angelo.
Investigators said they believe the truck is a newer-model Ram pickup with a crew cab.
The truck is light-colored, possibly white and will have damage to its passenger side, near the front door.
