Kweku Baako Jr. has added fresh fire to the frosty relationship between himself and the NDC and the party’s National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi.

The parties have been at a war of recently which started after the NDC flagbearer, Mr. John Dramani Mahama described some sod-cutting ceremonies undertaken by President Akuffo-Addo as “Sakawa”.

This he was replied by the Editor-In-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Mr. Baako, who chided Mr. Mahama for also embarking on similar and needles “sakawa” sod-cuttings after losing power in 2016.

His reply which ruffled some feathers in the top leadership of the NDC drew a statement from the National Communications Officer of the party, Sammy Gyamfi, tagging the veteran journalist as a “professional liar”.

However the indefatigable Kweku Baako, who is not willing to allow sleeping dogs to lie has rebutted those claims by Sammy Gyamfi.

Known for his meticulous record keeping, Mr. Baako on Wednesday, September 23, speaking as a regular pundit on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo pulled out several documents to set the record straight on the “needless” sod cutting of projects, particularly the Kumasi International Airport, Tema motorway and others, by the erstwhile Mahama government.

Kweku Baako defended his stance that former President Mahama is equally guilty when talking about “needless sakawa” sod-cutting adding that Sammy Gyamfi lied in his presser.

“There were seven conditions precedent to be fulfilled before this contract comes into full force and effect. [a] Signing of the contract agreement had been done and that was done 1st December, 2016 and [c] Parliamentary approval, that is of the loan facility, had been done 31st October, 2016 and 3rd November, 2016.

“Public Procurement Authority approval had also been done, I’ve accessed the document, was 30th November 2016. So, there were four conditions precedent that had not been touched at all when President Mahama went cutting the sod and listen to those ones; submission of the performance security by the contractor to the employer as per the provisions of clause 4.2 of the conditions of the contract.

“The performance security was delivered December 15th, 2017; more than a year and few days after the first sod cutting. Sammy Gyamfi’s statement that the contractor had finished first phase and moved from the site to the new site to develop phase 2 also is not true. It’s false.”
