Former Black Stars Captain, Asamoah Gyan, has claimed his relationship with coach Kwasi Appiah has broken down after the events before the AFCON 2019.
Asamoah Gyan, speaking in an interview with TV3’s Juliet Bawuah, laid it all down when speaking about his relationship with his former coach, Kwasi Appiah
Speaking on that, he said;
“Honestly, I think the relationship is a bit broken because of what happened,” Gyan said.
“I don’t know whether its his conscience or it is my conscience but the relationship (gap) between me and him is a bit wide.
“Because I haven’t spoken to him in a while which is a bit strange,” he added.
It will be remembered that Kwasi Appiah stripped Asamoah Gyan off the BLACK stars captaincy ahead of the AFCON 2019 in Egypt.
The then deputy captain, Andre Ayew, was made substantial captain in his stead while Gyan was promoted to be a ‘General Captain’.
Gyan saw the move as an act of betrayal from a coach he had served very well and reacted by announcing his retirement from international football.
He however rescinded that decision upon the advice of the President of the country and represented Ghana at the continental tournament.
The ‘Baby jet’ has since not played for the national team and missed out on new Black Stars coach, CK Akunnor’s first call ups.
