An inspired second half performance by striker Kwabena Owusu saw Ghana qualify for the semi finals of the U23 AFCON in Egypt.
Kwabena Owusu has come under lots of criticism after a poor display in the first two games of the competition.
However, he looks to have saved the best for the last as he turned up clutch for Ghana in the deciding moment.
Dropped from the starting 11 for the defining game, Kwabena Owusu came into the game for Robin Polley, who had a difficult game.
Ghana had been struggling all game with goalkeeper Kwame Baah having to save the Ghanaians blushes a host of times.
The first half ended at 0-0 with Ghana very much still in the game but not close to scoring but the Malians, who had nothing to play for being the better side.
With reports of Cameroon losing 2-1 to Egypt which meant at win at all would see Ghana qualify, Kwabena Owusu came on for the Meteors and scored in the 72nd and 85th minute to send Ghana through.
Ghana now wait to meet the winner of group B in the semi final. Top 3 teams from the competition are scheduled to qualify for the Olympic games in Tokyo 2020.
