The general secretary for the ruling New Patriotic Party, Mr. John Boadu has said the former high-ranking member of the party who doubled as the former general secretary, Mr. Kwabena Agyapong is still on suspension from the party.
He stated that news circulating in certain sections of the media which suggests that Kwabena Agyapong ‘s suspension has been lifted is not entirely true.
Kwabena Agyapong alongside two others were suspended from the party and its activities in 2015 after they were accused of violating certain party rules.
Some days ago, news broke out that Mr. Agyapong is likely to have been reinstated.
Narrating proceedings, John Boadu said his office has received a letter from Mr. Agyapong asking to be reinstated into the party, which he has duly replied telling him that the power lies with the National Executive Committee of the party. He said;
“What has happened is that the former General Secretary has written to the party that we suspended him indefinitely for some time and since then, he’s been supporting the party so he wants to get the National Executives to determine his status.
I will forward his [Kwabena Agyapong] request to the National Executives who took the decision for them to determine his status”.
