Kevin Prince Boateng became the first Ghanaian to win a La Liga title after Barcelona’s 1-0 victory over Levante saw them crowned Champions of Spain for the 26th time.
The attacker has made 2 league appearances since joining the Catalan giants on loan from Sassuolo in the January transfer window and didn’t make the Matchday squad for the game against Levante.
Lionel Messi’s 62nd minute goal, his 34th in the league this season was enough as Barcelona extended their lead at the top to 9 points ahead of second place Atletico Madrid. A superior head to head record against the Los Choloneros means Barcelona were crowned champions with 3 games to spare.
Barcelona have led the league from the early stages to the final day and have been by a mile, better than any one else. Captain Lionel Messi has been in inspiring form, producing some of his top performances as Barça are still in the running for a remarkable third treble in 10 years.
The celebrations however will have to be suspended at least till the end of the season, as they have to recharge their batteries in preparation for Wednesday’s UCL semi-final clash with Liverpool. Also looking further ahead to the copa Del Rey final later in the month against Valencia.
