Kotoko And Ashgold Name Squads For Africa bow

Following their victories in the Normalisation Committeee Special Competition, Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Ashantigold football club name squads for their preliminary matches in the CAF champions League and Confederations Cup games respectively.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Ashantigold are gearing up for their return to the continental stage as they name squads for their respective games.

Kotoko qualified for the competition by winning the Tier 1 of the Normalisation Committee’s special competition.

They beat Karela in the final after overcoming fierce rivals, Accra Hearts of Oak in the semi finals.

Ashantigold won the Tier 2 competition, beating Nzema Kotoko in the final.

Kotoko were drawn against Nigerian giants, Kano Pillars while Ashantigold face Equatoguinean side, Akonangui FC.

Kotoko will be hoping to build on an impressive performance in last year’s CAF Confederations cup where they marginally missed out on qualification from the group stages.

They have been training at the Accra Academy school park and just yesterday, coach Kjetil Zachariassen named his 18-man squad to make the trip to Nigeria.

No sign of Sogne Yacouba in the squad with hus future still up in the air. Also, new signing,George Abege was included in the 18-man squad.

Goalkeepers: Felix Annan, Osei Kwame

Defenders: Samuel Frimpong, Empem Dacosta, Augustine Sefah, Evans Owusu, Patrick Yeboah, Stephen Ayiku Tetteh, Habib Mohammed, Wahab Adams.

Midfielders: Alexis Didi, Justice Blay, Kelvin Andoh, Emmanuel Gyamfi, Godfred Asiamah,

Strikers: George Abege, Richard Arthur ,Naby Keita

Ashantigold , on the other hand, will be making a long awaited return to the African scene and Coach De Sousa has also named an 18-man squad to travel to Equitorial Guinea.

After an impressive run in the Normalisation Committee Special Competition, Shafiu Mumuni will be ready to go as he leads the line for the miners.
