Veteran journalist, Karima Brown has passed away aged 53.

Brown, was hospitalized after falling ill from COVID-19 related complications.

She was laid to rest in a private burial ceremony held in accordance with Islamic rites and traditions.

She is survived by her son Mikhail Brown and her brother Zain.


Karima Brown was a seasoned journalist, editor, and most recently Chief Content Officer at Independent Media.

Brown was an independent journalist who dedicated her life to the liberation of South Africans.


She was born in 1967 in Cape Town, South Africa.

Her career kicked off in the 1990s.

Karima worked for Business Day (political editor) before starting the Karima Brown Show on 702.
