On January 7, 2025, at approximately 3:20 AM, the Franklin Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a fire on Willow Street in Winnsboro, La. When authorities arrived, they found the property engulfed in flames.
Deputies and firefighters from the Winnsboro Fire Department tried to enter the home but were unable to due to the intense fire.
Four family members inside the house were pronounced dead at the scene.
The victims were identified as Karamel Givens, her children Bubs and Aubree Thomas, and their grandmother.
Aubree was a student at Winnsboro Elementary School.
Mayor Alice Wallace expressed her condolences on Facebook, urging the community to show love, compassion, and generosity in these difficult times.
She emphasized the importance of unity in small towns, saying that when one family hurts, everyone feels the pain.
The Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fire. Further details will be shared as the investigation continues.
