A woman is dead after being shot in the parking lot of a gas station overnight in Kansas City.

The Kansas City Police Department says the woman, identified as 22-year-old Tykeedra Henderson, was found inside a vehicle at the scene.

This morning, just after 1 a.m., KCPD officers were dispatched on a shooting call at a QuickTrip located at 31st Street and Bell Street.

Upon their arrival, police at the gas station located Henderson in an unresponsive state. EMS declared her dead at the scene.

According to detectives, the investigation indicates that Henderson was in a vehicle on the north side of the parking lot when shots were fired by unknown suspects from outside the vehicle.

Henderson’s vehicle then rolled to a stop on the south side of the parking lot where officers located it.

KCPD says that detectives and crime scene investigators have processed evidence, canvassed for witnesses, and talked to people who were at the scene.
