Streaming service TIDAL reports that reggae legend Bob Marley’s grandson, Joseph Marley, has passed away at 31.
According to Jamaican reporter Abka Fitz-Henley, Marley was found “unresponsive” inside a vehicle while in the United States.
Cause of death
While a cause of death was not immediately disclosed, South Florida radio station WZPP reports that Jo died as a result of asthma.
Who was Joseph Marley?
Joseph Marley was a Jamaican American reggae artist who was born on March 12, 1991 in Kingston, Jamaica
He was the son of Stephen Marley and grandson of reggae musician Bob Marley.
Marley spent his early years in Jamaica, where he attended Saints Peter and Paul Preparatory School, before moving to Florida to attend Palmetto High School and Miami Dade College (where he studied studio engineering).
He debuted in 2014 releasing, through iTunes and Spotify, an EP “Comfortable”.
He also appeared on a Grammy-winning album Strictly Roots by Morgan Heritage.
Jo Mersa spent his early years in Jamaica before he moved to Florida.
He studied studio engineering at Miami Dade College, according to a 2014 article by the Jamaica Observer.
At the time, Jo told the outlet that the only challenge he faced was maintaining the lofty standards of the Marley name.
