A tragic incident unfolded on Interstate 85 as Georgia State Patrol suffered a grievous loss with the demise of Trooper Jimmy Cenescar.
The Georgia Department of Public Safety revealed that the fatal event occurred during a routine traffic stop attempt.
According to authorities, Trooper Cenescar was in pursuit of a motorcycle for a traffic violation when his patrol vehicle veered off the roadway, colliding with an embankment.
The unfortunate incident transpired in the northbound lanes near Old Peachtree Road.
Despite swift emergency response, including efforts by medical personnel, Trooper Cenescar succumbed to his injuries at Northside Gwinnett Hospital following the accident.

Jimmy Cenescar ( born 1996 – aged – 26 ) was a Georgia State Patrol trooper.
Cenescar had worked for the Department of Public Safety since January 2023 and had graduated from trooper school in September.
Cenescar was an officer with the Atlanta Police Department before becoming a trooper.
He was born in Haiti.
His parents emigrated to the U.S. when he was four, and he said that “hard work and the tenacity to never give up was instilled in me” by his family.
Jimmy Cenescar, according to a Georgia Gwinnett College profile from 2022, first moved to Florida with his parents in 2000 — his father working for a taxi company and his mother working in patient care to raise six children.
They moved to Georgia in 2008 and he graduated from Paulding County High School in 2015.
