Jacquelyn Stepp, popularly known as Jackie Stepp has been appointed as Asheville Police Department f๐๐ง๐จ๐ฉ ๐๐๐ข๐๐ก๐ ๐ฟ๐๐ฅ๐ช๐ฉ๐ฎ ๐พ๐๐๐๐.
Early Career and Achievements
Jackie Stepp is a native of Henderson County and has served with the Asheville Police Department since October 2005.
She began her career on patrol.
Deputy Chief Stepp served as a Field Training Officer, Crowd Control Team member, Bike Team member, and Community Resource Officer.
Deputy Chief Stepp is also the departmentโs only female firearms instructor.
Breaking Barriers
Jackie Stepp was promoted to Sergeant in 2012 and was a Sergeant over the Downtown Bike Unit and Internal Affairs.
In 2016, Deputy Chief Stepp was promoted to Lieutenant, where she served as the West Asheville District Commander, Recruitment and Career Commander, and the Professional Standards Sections Commander.
Academic and Professional Accolades
Deputy Chief Stepp progressed in rank in 2019 to become the Captain over the Finance and Support Division, the Patrol Division, and most recently, the Community Engagement Division.
Jackie Stepp received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Western Carolina University.
She is also a graduate of the Police Executive Research Forum Senior Management Institute, the FBI Law-Enforcement Executive Development Association Trilogy program, the Internal Association of Chiefs of Police Womenโs Leadership Institute, and the WNC Law-Enforcement Leadership Academy.
Deputy Chief Stepp is the first female Deputy Chief of the Asheville Police Department.
