Renowned Journalist and host of the Good Evening Ghana show, Paul Adom-Otchere has made a bold declaration concerning the ongoing election petition hearing.
In what he described could be a tough tussle for Tsatsu Tsikata, he expressed concerns about the new application filed to reopen the case and subpoena Jean Mensah.
According to Paul Adom-Otchere, the development promises to be an interesting one as Tsatsu Tsikata will battle with both Amenuvor and Akoto Ampaw.
He indicated that the person to be compelled before in the subpoena usually is a non-party in the case.
Ghanaians have witnessed a series of unprecedented drama at the Supreme Court following the petition filed by the leader of the opposition NDC, Mr. Mahama. Mahama is contesting the results of the just-ended presidential election, filing a petition to get the results reversed.
During Day 13 of the hearing of the petition brought before the Court by Mr. Mahama, the Court finally made a ruling on the debate to get the Chairperson of the 1st Respondent to testify.
The Supreme Court of Ghana presided over by Chief Justice Annin Yeboah has unanimously overruled the request by the Lead Counsel for the Petitioner, Lawyer Tsatsu Tsikata to compel Madam Jean Mensa to mount the witness box to be grilled.
Speaking on his televised Good Evening Ghana show last night, he made a commentary analysis about the Supreme Court ruling while predicting what could happen should the case be reopen.
“It can be imagined that the laywers of the Respondents are going to opposed this application and they are going to forcefully argue as well. In reopening the case, Tsatsu Tsikata will have to repeat some of the arguments about the necessity for Jean Mensah to be cross-examined. I believe it is not going to be easy. It will be a tough one for Tsatsu Tsikata.”
