Award-winning actor turned politician, John Dumelo has asked what preparations the country has made for the poor in Ghana should there be a lockdown in the country.

His question comes after a wide section of the public are calling on the president to lockdown the country amidst the current corona virus pandemic.

Since the world got hit by the corona virus, a situation that was declared as a pandemic by the WHO, many countries have gone on a lockdown to curb the spread of the virus.

Ghanaians amidst the panic in the country where the cases have risen to 132 are currently calling on the president, Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo to lockdown the country. Other sections of society are quizzing what provisions will be made for the poor should there be a lockdown.

The current aspirant for Ayawaso-West Waguon on the ticket of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dumelo has added his voice to the advocates of the poor and needy in society and has asked what the stance are for people who can’t afford certain basic necessities in life.

In a tweet on Thursday, he asked;

“Maybe when there’s a total lockdown, government workers will still be paid at the end of the month. But what about those who sell on the streets, the shoe shine guy, the woman who sells bread and egg in the evenings at Shiashie, how will they pay bills? Is there a bailout for them?”
