Award-winning Fante rapper, Kofi Kinaata believes that this year is his year to win big at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, declaring himself as the artiste of the year for 2019, the year which would have been under review.

The VGMA was scheduled to come off this year in May, having Ghana’s top artistes such as Sarkodie, Meidkal and others nominated to be likely selected as the artiste of the year. However, the corona virus spread which has caused programs that involve social gatherings to be halted has forced the organizers of the awards scheme to postpone the event.

Speaking on Radio Central, the ‘Things Fall Apart’ hit maker believes the year under review was his year, saying he made a lot of impact in the music scene and deserves the award had it not been for the corona virus. He acknowledged the hard work of the other nominees but put himself on the top, saying he did better. He said;

“As for 2019, hands down without sounding arrogant I am by far the artiste of the year and I’m not saying 2020. I did more than any artiste in that year with hit songs, several ambassadorial deals, and numerous shows that I performed and on top of all I was adjudged the most influential youth”

“This doesn’t mean that if the awards scheme should happen today I would be expecting to win the artiste of the year by hook or crook. I believe I’m the artiste of the year in 2019 and anyone’s opinion doesn’t bother me.
