I’m still unfit for court – Obengfo

Dr Dominic Obeng-Andoh, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Advanced Body Sculpt Centre also known as the Obengfo Hospital, has pleaded with an Accra Circuit Court to excuse him from trial until he fully recovers from ailments within his bones, which, according to him, has rendered him unfit.

At the hearing on Friday, 6 July 2018, Dr Obeng-Andoh pleaded with the court presided over by Judge Jane Harriet Ayele Quaye to ignore reports by the Police Hospital claiming he was well and could stand trial.

Police prosecutors, subsequently, prayed the court to adjourn the case for a long period of time.

The judge, who said she was handling the case for her on-leave colleague, therefore, adjourned the case to 3 August 2018, by which time the substantive judge would have resumed.

Dr Obeng-Andoh is in court in connection with the death of the Deputy CEO of the National Entrepreneurship Innovation Programme (NEIP), Stacy Offei-Darko, at his facility a few weeks ago under what the deceased’s family described as strange circumstances.

He has also been charged for practising medicine without licence and operating an unlicensed medical facility.

Ms Darko died while on admission at the Obengfo Hospital on 21 May 2018 after undergoing a surgery allegedly performed by Dr Obeng-Andoh.
