‘I’ll rather lose Salah than Mane’-Carragher

Former Liverpool defender, Jamie Carragher has made a bold claim by saying he would rather have Mane than Salah for the remainder of the season.

Speaking on Sky Sports’Monday Night football show, the former red, who made 508 appearances for Liverpool between 1996 and 2013 was full of praise for Liverpool’s number 10.

‘It’s not just scoring, being top of the charts, getting goals when it’s 4-0 and banging a couple in at the end of the game, it’s the importance of the goals Mane is getting’, he said.

Mohammed Salah has been Liverpool’s top scorer in the league this season, with 19 goals, one more than his Senegalese teammate Mane. His goal against Southampton in matchweek 33 made him the fastest Liverpool player to record 50 goals(in 69 games) in the league.

However, when pushed to the wall and asked to choose who he would lose for the remainder of Liverpool’s season between the two, Carragher simply said. ‘Salah’.

‘I’m a massive fan of Mane. People talk about Jurgen Klopp, the signings of Salah, Van Dijk, unbelievable’, he said.

‘Mane is the one that got Liverpool back. If you think, he was Klopp’s first big signing, paid £30m.He was the signing that got Liverpool into the top four. The next season it was the Champions League final, this season it’s challenging for the title’, he added.

Liverpool sit on top or the Premier league table with 85 points, 2 more than Manchester City, who are their closest challengers. Jamie Carragher believes if they are to end their 29 year wait for a league title, Sadio Mane’s form will be more crucial than Mohammed Salah’s in the remaining run of games.
