I Will Not Quit Acting If I Become A Parliamentarian – John Dumelo

Celebrated Ghanaian actor, John Dumelo has stated that he doesn’t plan on quitting acting should he be elected as a parliamentarian in the near future.

The award-winning actor was in an interview with Accra based television station, TV3 on Friday when he made this assertion.

John Dumelo picked up the form to officially contest in the primaries on the ticket of leading opposition party, National Democratic Congress (NDC). Some days ago, the actor passed the vetting process and is now going to contest in the primaries of the NDC for Ayawaso-West Waguon.

Touching on what the future holds for him in acting and whether he would quit the profession should he be elected as a parliamentarian, the actor said many other parliamentarians are practicing other professions aside being legislators and he doesn’t see quitting acting as an option for him.

“There are so many parliamentarians who practice law, there are so many parliamentarians who practice medicine so me going to parliament of course there will be one of those moments where I will be offering advice in the acting industry and maybe I could still do one or two. I mean, it’s part of me. It is acting that has made me who I am”, he said.

Adding up to his submission, the actor stated that certain careers don’t allow you to walk away irrespective of your busy schedules, and acting is one of them.

John Dumelo in reply to how long he intends to stay in parliament as a parliamentarian should he be elected said the power lies in the hands of the delegates and how long they intend to keep him as their option should he have the opportunity to serve them, but added that he doesn’t intend to be a parliamentarian forever.
