Sammy Gyamfi has made described the new taxes as an insult to Ghanaians and an indication that the Akuffo-Addo government does not care and respect Ghanaians.
Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosiisen show hosted by Osei Bonsu in the late hours of yesterday, he called on the Minority MPs in Parliament to reject the budget.
According to him, Ghana remains the only country charging its citizens for providing free water and electricity during the COVID-19 period.
He said that Rwanda and Cote D’Ivoire did the same for their citizens, but no tax has been imposed.
“We do not know how Ghanaians will suffer if we accept to pay these taxes. I will drop my NDC membership to talk about this. This is not about the two parties, we have to talk as Ghanaians and be truthful. Both NDC and NPP members will be in trouble.”
“None of the races have been justified. Our MPs must not accept to pass this tax. It is an insult to Ghanaians and should be rejected immediately. Why should Ghanaians pay for a free water and electricity you promised that it is free? I said it that it was to win the election.”
What do you think about Sammy Gyamfi’s comment? Is it right for the government to introduce these taxes? Is the COVID-19 levy justifiable?
