I Suffered Depression For 4 Months – Kwaw Kesse
It’s easy to associate a perfect life for our celebrities. Talk of the expensive cars, clothes, and the fat paychecks they’re known for, we assume life is on the easy road for them. However, like regular humans, they are also faced with the everyday struggles of life.
Quite recently, songstress Mzvee in making a return to the music scene after 2 years openly disclosed her struggles with depression and how tough it was for her at that time.
The latest artiste to openly talk about his struggles with depression is rapper Kwaw Kesse. In an interview with TV3 New Day, the rapper has said he suffered depression for 4 months and even decided to quit music entirely.
Kwaw Kesse, one-time VGMA Artiste of the Year saw it all in his peak until 2014 when his manager was gunned down by a home invasion with the assailants never caught. He was also arrested for smoking weed openly and jailed. He noted that these happenings really affected him but he found a way around it by the help of God.
“In 2014, after my manager was killed in cold blood and the same year I got divorced, got arrested and sent to prison, all these three things happening in one year, at a point I decided not to do music again.
“At that time, I had nobody to look up to apart from God. I was really depressed and didn’t want to do music again. I didn’t know what to do with my life but God spoke to me, I listened and I came back to Ghana and that was better.
“I was depressed for four months. I heard a voice telling me I was stronger than this and people look up to you so go back and do what you have to do.”
