I Regret Putting My Career On Hold To Focus on Kwabena Kwabena - Kontihene

Ace Ghanaian musician, Emmanuel Nana Appiah Boateng  better known in showbiz as Kontihene has opened up on his deepest regret as an artist during his musical career and its shocking to know that it turns out to be an artist he picked up and branded, Kwabena Kwabena.

In an interview with Andy Dosty on Hit fm’s Daybreak Hitz on Monday,  Kontihene disclosed that he regrets having to drop his musical career to focus on another artist when he could have built his brand better. “The disappointing thing was when I put my career on hold and focused on Kwabena Kwabena. It was a very regrettable state”.

The Esi hitmaker in the 2000’s was strongly linked to Highlife musician Kwabena Kwabena after they released a couple of bangers like Esi, Aso and quite a few songs but it does turn out that currently, things might not be going on too well between the two artistes.

As monitored by ghlinks.com.gh, Kontihene further criticized himself,  calling himself stupid for doing that. “Other colleagues tried it but what did I get from it? Above all, I had to put my career on hold and build a brand for someone. I think it was stupid of me to do that.” He added that even the holy scriptures frowned on such an act. “Even the scriptures say that love your neighbor as yourself.  It doesn’t mean you should close yours.”

Responding to a question on why he paused his career to focus on Kwabena Kwabena and whether they were in talking terms,  the veteran musician disclosed that he wanted to build a bigger brand for young artists and said he was ok with Kwabena Kwabena. “I wanted to create an empire so that we will have young people spring up in different ways.  Right now I think when someone asks me my relationship with Kwabena Kwabena, I say cool. Just four letter words, cool”.

Kontihene spoke about his working relationship with Kojo Antwi, describing Kojo Antwi  as a passionate musician and a busy one as such. He explained that he has a very great and healthy relationship with the musician. “Kojo Antwi is busy with other things. He has so many responsibilities and I am also a grown ass man.  I have so many tasks to fulfill but I am cool with Kojo Antwi”.

In a response to Andy Dosty on whether he has ever paid Kojo Antwi for a job,  he described Kojo Antwi as expensive and passionate. He said he doesn’t think anyone can pay Kojo Antwi for a collaboration. “You can’t pay Kojo Antwi. When it comes to music I don’t think Kojo Antwi is obsessed with money and it will be a sign of disrespect. How much can you pay him?  You can’t pay his talent. All the people that he has worked with, I’ve not heard anyone say I paid this to Kojo Antwi. “

Kontihene touched on his music Asesa being played frequently on radio and it’s affiliation to the CEO of Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah. He said it was rather unfortunate to hear the song spring up on airwaves after a long while and stated that he doesn’t like its affiliation to the ongoing events. He added that the song carried a different message.
