Ghanaian music heavyweight Charles Nii Armah Mensah, best known as Shatta Wale has refuted claims that he bagged a cool Ghs 100,000 after his performance at the COVID 19 Virtual Concert on Easter Monday.
According to the top dancehall star, he performed for free.
The government of Ghana organized a concert on Easter Monday to launch the COVID 19 tracker app which is expected to help trace infected persons in communities using technology.
The launch witnessed performances from various music heavyweights and was climaxed by a performance from Dancehall Naa, Shatta Wale. After his performance, speculations were that he was paid a whooping GHS100, 000.
Denying the allegations via a facebook live video, the star artiste said Ghanaians in particular take delight in spreading false news.
According to him, he is very patriotic and didn’t see the need to charge for the concert. He added that his god father hit him up to arrange the deal for him through the ministry and he saw it as a good one and didn’t even charge because he understands the times we are in. he said;
“My God-father called to say the ministry wants to do something and I am one of the main people to have done a virtual concert and that they would love to involve me and I agreed to do it for free…I did it for free because I know where that thing go fit take me go.”
