I Got Married On One Hot Thursday ; Only Four People Attended - Wiyaala

Nicknamed “The Untamed Lioness”, Noella Djimba Wiyaala, is a thirty-two (32) year old Ghanaian and African International Artist. Her unique genre of music, which is a fusion of West African folk songs and stadium pop, has put her on the map as an International Superstar.

Many women, if not all, dream of their wedding day, mostly from a young age and imagine it as no less than a fairytale. Some go as far as taking a loan to make their dream day come true, and most recently, news broke of a lady who broke up with her boyfriend of five (5) years because his budget of Fifteen Thousand Cedis (GH₵ 15,000, the equivalent of US$2,777.18) for their wedding was not impressive enough.

With that said, one would likely expect that with an International Superstar status, Wiyaala would want a lavish ceremony; that is far from Wiyaala’s reality. The Untamed Lioness, narrated on The Delay Show, that her husband (rumoured to be her 66 year old manager) proposed marriage to her without a ring and assured her that the answer “Yes” to his proposal, would make him get her any ring of her choice.

She recalled her shock and excitement. After accepting her now husband’s proposal, she had both parents present, totaling four (4), and got married on “one hot Thursday afternoon”. She hasn’t gotten around to choosing a ring of a choice, because she’s not a jewelry fanatic, and simply doesn’t want one. The pair has been married for four years now.

When asked whether she dreams of having children, she stated that she’s uncertain and has always said that birthing a child is not like buying a teddy bear, which its owner can throw out at any time. She also said that if she’ll have a child, she might limit it to one, and might even do it, to please her mother. Her husband on the other hand, is okay with her decision, either way.
