A 33-year-old man was killed in a shooting at a house party in the West Valley early Saturday morning.
Phoenix police said that officers were called to a home on the 2800 block of 48th Lane at about 4:20 a.m. on Saturday due to the shooting.
When officers got to the scene, they found a man who had been shot. That man has been identified as 33-year-old Humberto Ortiz.
Officers then began trying to save Ortiz’s life while waiting for firefighters to arrive and take over. However, Ortiz’s injuries were too severe and he died at the scene.
Detectives then responded and began investigating.
Their preliminary investigation shows that Ortiz was shot by an unknown person who left the scene before officers arrived.
