The Hollywood movie has for many years reigned as the biggest movie industry in the world. Every actor’s aspiration in life has been to feature in a Hollywood movie at least once, considering the recognition it comes with and the high income as well.
For African actors, it’s been an almost impossible dream to get into Hollywood. However, some Ghanaians are making it big in the Hollywood movie industry.

Boris Kodjoe
Boris Frederic Cecil Tay Ofuatey-Kodjoe is a Hollywood actor born in Austria to a German mother and a Ghanaian father. His father is originally a native of the Krobo land (in the Eastern Region of Ghana).
Boris has been in the Hollywood scene for a long while, staring in 2000 Hollywood film Love and Basketball, 2002 Hollywood film Brown Sugar and Resident Evil; the afterlife. His current appearance was in Grey’s Anatomy spin-off, Station 19.
He led a team of 40 other black Hollywood stars to Ghana during the Year of Return 2019 to connect with their ancestry.
Idris Elba
Idris Akuna Elba is an English actor, musician, producer and DJ born on September 6th 1972 in London to a father of Seirra Leonean descent and a Ghanaian mother.
Forbes recognises him as the sexiest man in the world, an enviable accolade which stirs the hearts of both men and women.
Idris has made a number of appearances in the Hollywood scene, after starting off as a DJ in London. He is known for his role in award-winning Hollywood production Beast of No Nation, BBC One Series Luther, and Nelson Mandela’s biographical film, Long Way to Freedom. He also played lead role in Hollywood production Hubs and Shaw.
He has a number of reputable award nominations to his credit, some being the Golden Globe Awards and the Emmys.
He has also featured on songs with Ghana’s Sarkodie, VVIP and Reggie Rockstone.
Peter Mensah
Peter Mensah has featured in big Hollywood blockbusters such as 300, Tears of the Sun, as well as series’ such as Spartacus; Blood and Sand Spartacus; Gods of the Arena.
He is a Ghanaian – British actor born in Ghana but migrated to England at a very early age with his family.
He came to Ghana in 2018 for his father’s funeral but did well to avoid the media and crowd.
Michael Blankson
The Hollywood actor and comedian has curved a name for himself in the Hollywood industry for a long while now, even though little was known about him until he hosted the 2018 AFRIMMA Awards in Accra, Ghana.
He made a remarkable appearance in the 2000 comedy film Next Friday produced by the legendary Ice Cube.
He went on to release his own comedy skit titled Modasucka; welcome to America in 2OO5.
He made remarkable appearances in 2005 production Bad Boys of Comedy AND 2007 production Repos with Master P.
Cynthia Addai Robinson
She is an American actress of Ghanaian descent. She played a role in top American tv series Spartacus and CW production, Arrow.
She currently features in USA Network series Shooter, playing the role Nadine Memphis.
She was born in London on 12th January, 1985 to an American father and a Ghanaian mother and moved to the US when she was 4.
She attended Montgomery Blair High School in Maryland and Tisch School of Arts where she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre.
Abraham Attah
The young Ghanaian actor made his debut in the Hollywood scene with the move Beast of NO Nation. Since then, the rest is history.
Abraham Nii Attah was born on July 2, 2001 and currently resides in the United States Of America where he is furthering his education.
After his debut film won him an award at the 72nd Venice International Film Festival as the Best Young Actor, he has also appeared in the Marvel film Spider Man; Homecoming.
Nana Kofi Siriboe
He was born in California, US to Ghanaian parents
Nana Kofi Siriboe is a Hollywood actor and model known for his movies Prom (2011), Whiplash (2014). He has also appeared in comedy drama series, Awkward in 2015.
His recent work is in the 2017 romantic comedy film Girls Trip.
As a model, he has worked with Wilhemina Models New York and Vision Los Angeles.
