Government officials in Ghana are individuals the president has appointed directly or indirectly to head agencies, institutions, ministries or organizations.

Their jobs are very demanding, important and innure to the growth of the country thus their salaries are certainly gargantuan or just equivalent to the work they do.

As to whether they deserve to be paid these salaries or not will certainly be a discussion for another day.

Presently, President Akufo-Addo takes an approximated salary of GHS30,000 per month. This is the salary the president receives after all taxes have been deducted. However, the allowances he takes are more than his monthly salary.

Meanwhile, there are individuals whose jobs appear to be more important than the president and therefore take huge salaries than the president.

Dr Ernest Addison is the man who supervises the entire banking sector of Ghana and as such is the highest-paid government official in Ghana in 2021.

The Governor of the Bank of Ghana takes an estimated monthly salary of GHS125,346. This does not include his numerous allowances and per Diem

2, Rev. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah – Commissioner-General, GRA

Rev. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah holds one of the most important offices in Ghana. He is responsible for the collecting of taxes across all sectors and he has proven to be great at his work. Per reports, he has improved the revenue collection of GRA substantially since he was appointed.

Rev. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah is the second-highest paid government official in Ghana in 2021 with an estimated monthly salary of GHS105,996. This does not include his numerous allowances and per Diems.

3, Dr. John Ofori-Tenkorang – Director General, SSNIT

Dr John Ofori-Tenkorang is Director-General of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT). He is responsible for the payment of monthly insurance contributions by or on behalf of all workers ahead of their retirement.

Dr John Ofori-Tenkorang is the third-highest paid government official in 2021 with an estimated monthly salary of GHS101,382. This does not include his numerous allowances and per Diems.

Dr John Kofi Mensah is the Chief Executive Officer of the Agriculture Development Bank (ADB Bank). He is to ensure the growth and smooth running of the state-owned bank and to make profit.
