Gyan included in 29-man provisional AFCON squad

Black Stars captain and all time record goalscorer Asamoah Gyan, has been included in Coach Kwesi Appiah’s provisional 29-man squad for the 2019 African Cup of Nations tournament in Egypt next month.

The striker, Gyan,34,who had retired from international football on Monday, made a surprise U-turn on Wednesday after a discussion with the president of the country, His Excellency, Nana Akufo-Addo, few hours before the squad was announced.

Also on the list are kotoko duo Felix Annan and Mohammed Safiu Fatawu and Hearts of Oak defender Mohammed Alhassan.

The team will depart for Dubai for pre tournament preparations on June 1 and play two friendlies against Namibia and South Africa. The squad will be cut to a 23-man squad ahead of the tournament that kicks off on June 21.

Ghana are drawn in group F alongside Cameroon, Benin and Guinea Bissau and will be based in Ismailly.
