GHPL Review: Legon Cities grab late winner against Sharks,Dwarfs Shock Aduana

Legon Cities Football Club recorded their second home win,an all important 3 points against Elmina Sharks at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Royals, as they are affectionately called beat Elmina Sharks thanks to a 90th minute penalty by Abdul Karim Jabila.

Legon Cities controlled the fair share of proceedings in the early stages taking the game to Sharks however, Sharks got the best chance of the game when Cities goalkeeper Fatau Dauda had to be on red alert to stop a 1v1 opportunity.

It was an impressive half by the home side, who needed a big response after their 3-0 drubbing last time out against Karela.

They huffed and puffed and in the 90th minute got their breakthrough from the penalty spot after an Elmina Sharks defender handled the ball in the box.  Abdul Karim Jabila stepped up and converted the resulting spot kick to hand the Royals their second  win of the season.

Elsewhere, it was a goalfest in Kumasi as King Faisal came back twice but eventually lost 4:3 to Accra Great Olympics. Veterans Gladson Awako and Emmanuel Clottey were on target for great Olympics.

The shocking result of the day came at the Cape Coast Stadium where bottom of the table Ebusua Dwarfs beat league leaders Aduana Stars 3:1.
