Massive Reactions As Ghanaians Predict NDC Flagbearer 2024
The 2020 general elections is marked as one of the most competitive general elections held in Ghana since the inception of the multiparty democracy.
It was the center of focus as the world anticipated the winner.
NPP’s Nana Akuffo Addo emerged the winner after defeating his biggest contender, John Dramani Mahama.
It’s a few months after the elections, and one would be surprised at the tensions within the two largest political parties.
There is a growing tension within both the NDC and ruling New Patriotic Party over who to lead the respective parties in the race to the 2024 general elections after Akuffo-Addo finishes his term.
Many online polls have been conducted and Ghanaians have shared mixed over the development.
In the NPP, the two leading contestants likely to compete for the flagbearership position are Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia and Alan Kyerematen who is the current Minister for Trade and Finance in the Akuffo Addo-led NPP government.
According to pundits and pollsters, more faces are likely to emerge as time goes on.
The situation is no different from the largest opposition party, NDC as online polls have been conducted. Recently, some bigwigs in the party have launched a campaign for Mahama to be replaced after failing to secure victory for the party in tep consecutive elections.
The Economic Intelligence Unit has also predicted victory for NDC in the 2024 election should Mahama be replaced by a new candidate.
This has created massive stir and uproar on social media as Ghanaians have shared their opinions on who to lead the party.
In an infographic sighted on NDC official Strongroom facebook page, Ghanaians voted on Goosie Tandoh, Prof. Joshua Alabi, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, Dr. Ekow Spio Gabrah and former President John Dramani Mahama. The final results predicted victory for Mahama to lead the party again in 2024.
