54-year-old Gene Bass, a JROTC Army Instructor at Dallas/Fort Worth ISD, was killed in a drive-by shooting outside his home on Chesapeake Bay Drive.
At 2:25 p.m. Friday, officers were dispatched to the 4400 block of Chesapeake Bay Drive.
Upon arrival, officers found Sargent Gene Bass in a front yard with gunshot wounds to his upper body, police said in a news release.
Medical personnel attempted life-saving measures, but the Mr Bass was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives determined a suspect drove up to the home and fired multiple shots at the victim and fled the scene in a vehicle, the release says.
Homicide detectives are investigating this incident.
