Angela Chao, the chief executive and chair of New York-based bulker owner Foremost Group, has passed away after a tragic car accident.
Born in 1974 into a family with deep roots in the shipping industry, Chao was the youngest of the six daughters of James Chao, who founded Foremost Group with her mother, the late Ruth Mulan Chu Chao, in 1964.
Angela Chao is survived by her five sisters, parents, nine stepchildren, and husband, Jim Breyer, a venture capitalist who is also the CEO of Breyer Capital.

Born in 1961 in New Haven, Connecticut, Jim Breyer comes from a family of Hungarian immigrants.
His father, John P. Breyer, held an executive position at International Data Group, while his mother, Eva, was an executive at Honeywell.
Throughout his career, Breyer has made investments in more than 40 companies that have either gone public or completed successful mergers.
Notably, his investments in companies like Facebook have yielded returns of over 100 times the initial cost, while many others have seen returns of over 25 times the cost.
