Many people got so angered with the brouhaha that surrounded American rapper Cardi B’s visit and concert in Ghana. Right from the ‘Meet and Greet’ session which didn’t come on to the tall list of A-list artistes billed to perform but didn’t perform, just to mention but a few, Ghanaians couldn’t help but go hard on the issue.
Rapper Sarkodie was billed to perform but didn’t do so on the day and this got many patrons of the show coming at him and the organizers for what they described as a waste of their money and time.
Explaining what happened in an interview with Accra based Hitz Fm on Tuesday, the rapper blamed the incident on the organizers and said they didn’t stick to the time they gave him, a reason why he couldn’t perform.
Being the first time the rapper has touched on the issue indepth since it occurred, he told host Andy Dosty that he had gone to the venue to do his sound check and to the hotel room where he was lodged. He said he had to rush to the venue because 8pm was communicated to him as the time when he mounts the stage.
Sarkodie revealed that he was surprised when even up until 1am, there wasn’t any sign of him performing anytime soon, something which was a breach of contract.
Sarkodie asked for his fans to pardon him, insisting that the issue of him not performing was beyond his control and called on organizers to stick and respect the time they give to artistes.
