Evans Mensah named Man Of the match in Meteors draw against Cameroona

Evans Mensah was a thorn in the flesh of the Cameroonian defence all evening as Ghana fought hard to rescue a point in their group A opener.

Making his debut at the U23 level, Evans Mensah was on song and posed a threat as early as the opening stages of the game and was a reliable outlet for the Meteors.

His combination with Kingsley Fobi was a joy to watch at times as they linked up very well on Ghana’s right wing.

The HJK Helsinki star, who has been previously called up to the Black Stars worked tirelessly in leading the Ghanaian charge after Captain Yaw Yeboah got injured.

Cameroon scored in the 60th minute through a freekick by Franck Evina after Habib Mohammed fouled his marker just outside the box.

The Meteors then went on the charge in search for the equaliser in which Mensah was hugely instrumental.

It was his mazy run that led to him being fouled in the lead up to the equaliser. . The  Habib, however made amends for the earlier mistake by scoring the equaliser through the resulting freekick rescue a point for the Meteors.

Mensah and Ghana now have a tough task to get a result against Egypt and Mali in the final group games.
