Disqualified presidential candidate for the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Mr. Akwasi Addai Odike has accused the Electoral Commission and the ruling government for plotting his disqualification ahead of the December 7th elections.
On Monday 19th October, 2020, the EC announced 5 candidates who were disqualified for contesting in the general elections for various reasons and congratulated 12 other candidates for meeting all requirements and as such fit to contest in the 2020 polls.
Mr. Odike, a part of the 5 disqualified in speaking revealed in an interview with MyNewsGh expressed his disappointment in the Electoral Commission for taking such a decision against him. He however alleged that the EC was in bed with the ruling NPP against him and had plotted this action since day one.
“The EC led by Jean Mensa and NPP’s campaign manager, Peter Mac Manu from day one planned to ensure that I will not be given the chance to contest”, he alleged.
Defending his allegation, he further stated that he has been on the case of the government with respect to the bad policies being implemented in the country among other bad governance issues, an action which has led to his disqualification.
