The Electoral Commission of Ghana has said it will ensure that the results for the forthcoming December 7th polls will be announced 24 hours after the polls close.
As Ghana gears towards the 2020 presidential elections, the Electoral Commission is burdened with providing accurate results to decide who takes over the mantle as president of the country. Some four years ago, the EC assured it would deliver on declaring the results 72 hours after the polls close.
In an interview with Joy News, the Director of Electoral Services at the EC, Dr. Serebour Quaicoe said the EC is working hard around the clock to ensure that the results of the elections are made available within 24 hours, saying it wants to avoid unnecessary delay. “All things being equal, we are hoping that before we go to bed on the 8th of December, we would have come out with the presidential results,” he said.
He also assured that the commission is in contact with its district offices and regional offices to ensure a fair election come December 7th.
