A leading member of the opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC, and also a private legal practitioner, Lawyer Edudzi Tamakloe has debunked the speculations that Former President, H.E John Dramani Mahama was rejected by the Somali people due to his incompetence.
It could be recalled few days ago, the Chairperson of the African Union, H.E Moussa Faki Mahamat announced Former President Mahama as his High Representative to Somalia to aid in ensuring a peaceful election.
However, after some days, the Somali People rejected his appointment.
Following this, some Ghanaians have indicated that the Former President faced rejection due to his track record of incompetence demonstrated in his tenure of office as the President of Ghana.
Nonetheless, Lawyer Edudzi Tamakloe has debunked such claims.
He explained that the AU and UN had always appointed prominent persons to resolve the conflict associated with the electoral processes in African Countries.
However, a faction in Somalia felt uncomfortable with President Mahama’s appointment due to his close relation with Kenya whiles the other faction accepted his appointment.
Lawyer Edzudi Tamakloe stated that his rejection by a faction in Somalia cannot be attributed to the competence of the Former President as though he had not begun his work.
