The Electoral Commission of Ghana has announced that it will proceed on Christmas break after what it describes as a successful election.

The announcement comes at a time when the National Democratic Congress is calling for a redress of the 2020 presidential elections and an independent audit which is being done through a series of press conferences and demonstrations.

The NDC have stated that they reject the 2020 election results and have called on the EC to do the needful by addressing issues they are raising against it.

In a statement from the EC dated 21st December 2020, the deputy chairman for corporate affairs, Dr. Bossman E. Asare said the EC has worked tirelessly to organize a peaceful election and will proceed on leave from 23rd December 2020 to 19th January 2021.
