A Gilmer man has been arrested following a fatal Friday morning shooting in Longview.
The Longview Police Department said at around 10:15 a.m., officers responded to the 3100 block of McCann Road in reference to the shooting. When officers arrived, they reportedly found a man with a gunshot wound.
Longview PD said the victim was taken to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries. Police identified the victim as 20-year-old Dequalin Vaughn of Longview.
Following an investigation, Longview detectives identified the suspect as 23-year-old Eddie Floyd Hill Jr., who was wanted on felony charges from a case in Marshall.
Investigators located Hill in Gilmer and booked him in the Upshur County Jail for unlawful possession of a firearm, deadly conduct and murder.
The Longview Police Department thanked the Marshall Police Department, Harrison County Violent Crime Task Force, The Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Gilmer Police Department for their assistance.
