Cross examination will expose the EC for its lies – Dr. Dominic Ayine

A member of Mahama’s legal team in court over the election petition case, Dr. Dominic Ayine has stated that cross-examining the Electoral Commission of Ghana chairperson, Madam Jean Mensah will expose the commission for its lies in the 2020 general elections.

Dr. Dominic Ayine disclosed this in an interview with Accra based Citi FM.

The counsel for the petitioner on Monday closed in on presenting witnesses after presenting three witnesses. According to them, the three have already highlighted major irregularities in the 2020 elections and seeks to cross-examine EC chairperson, Madam Jean Mensah.

Counsels for the first and second respondents however disclosed that they are not going to present their witnesses, arguing that the case does not merit a presentation of their witnesses. Objecting to this, Mr. Tsikata, counsel for Mahama said there was every reason for them to cross-examine Jean Mensah, noting that she is key in the on-going case.

In his interview, Dr. Ayine noted that the EC chair is scared to mount the witness stand because it will expose her and the commission for their irregularities in the 2020 elections. According to him, the lies perpetuated by the commission in the 2020 election case would be brought to bear, the ECs reason for escaping cross-examination.

He said; “Cross-examination will expose her for people to see that what we have said in the petition as well as what our witnesses have said is the true reflection of what really took place”
