Eight months ago, a terrifying bust of Cristiano Ronaldo made the rounds of the web after its unveiling at Madeira’s recently renamed Cristiano Ronaldo International Airport. Looking absolutely nothing like the legendary footballer, it wasn’t long before the failed statue was turned into a series of hilarious memes.
But today, the Real Madrid star can breathe a sigh of relief because artist, Navarro Arteago has replaced the bust with another that actually – brace yourselves – bears a resemblance to Ronaldo.

According to El Mundo, the new bust was created in just two weeks and will now be displayed at the Real Madrid Museum, which welcomes more than one million visitors each year.
Revealed on November 2, the statue was presented by club legend Emilio Butragueño, while Ronaldo was held up playing against Tottenham the day of the unveiling.
Measuring around 90 cm and weighing in at almost 60 kilos, we’re guessing that CR7 prefers this version to the original…
