The test result of the latest suspected Coronavirus case from the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research has turned out to be negative.
The case involved a US-based Ghanaian woman who visited the Korle Bu hospital for gynaecological services but was detected to have a high-grade fever.
Samples were then taken to Noguchi to confirm if the woman had the CODVID-19 virus but results turned out to be negative.
The Director of Public Health at the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr. Badu Sarkodie confirmed the results to the media.
The country has so far tested 46 suspected cases of the Coronavirus which turned negative.
Meanwhile, Ghana’s neighbouring country, Togo, has confirmed its first case of CODVD-19 making it the 6th country in Africa to record the case.
The Ghana Health Service has urged the public to maintain good personal hygiene and avoid shaking of hands to ensure that an risk of an outbreak of the disease is minimised.
Common symptoms include coughing, fever, cough, shortness of breath, headaches and pneumonia.
People who show these signs are advised to visit the hospital for treatment.
