“I started breaking down crying when they told me. I’m only 24 what did I do in my past to deserve all of this?” she posted.

Cori Broadus Lupus Stroke: Her health issues explained

Cori and her family have been open about her health issues over the years.

At the age of 6, she was diagnosed with Lupus.

As per the Lupus Foundation of America, Lupus ‘is a chronic (long-term) disease that can cause inflammation and pain in any part of your body.

It’s an autoimmune disease, which means that your immune system – the body system that usually fights infections – attacks healthy tissue instead’.

In an interview with People in September 2023, Broadus said she was doing ‘better’ than she’d ‘ever been’, however she similarly reflected on how it’s a ‘lot’ to be aged 24 and going through so much with her health.

Explaining why she decided to take an ‘all natural’ approach to her health, she said: “I’ve had medication since I was six years old, depending on these drugs all my life. So I wanted better for myself.

“I wanted to change because it just became a lot. I’m only 24 years old, taking 10 to 12 pills every single day. So I kind of just went cold turkey.”

She resolved to People that despite having days where she’s ‘sick’ she still feels ‘blessed’ and able to ‘do what [she] love[s]’ and ‘tell [her] story’.

However, she notes there are also times she wishes she wasn’t sick and questions what her life would be like if she was ‘normal’.

She resolved at the time: “It’s part of being human. You’re going to have bad days, you’re not going to always have good days.”
