Lafayette police identify 2 killed in shooting near UL’s campus that injured 2 others

Corey Mouton, 26 of Carencro, and Jamir Carmouche, 24 of Lafayette, were killed in the shooting, Lafayette police said Sunday.

Lafayette police have identified two people who were killed in a Saturday shooting that injured two others across from the University of Louisiana Lafayette’s campus.

Police responded about 7:30 p.m. Saturday, just after UL’s homecoming football game, to the shooting outside 405 E. University Ave. at a popular fried chicken restaurant called KOK Wings and Things.

Corey Mouton, 26 of Carencro, and Jamir Carmouche, 24 of Lafayette, were killed in the shooting, Lafayette police said Sunday.

Two other people were struck by gunfire and were taken to a hospital where they are listed in stable condition.

One person appears to have been the intended target and died at the scene. The others appear to not have been targeted, police said.

Police did not say who the intended target was.

Additional information was not immediately available. The investigation is ongoing.
