Highway patrol identifies 5 people killed in Clermont County crash

Two passengers in the Chrysler, 19-year-old Chloe Love of Loveland and 18-year-old Dezmen Jernigan of Goshen, were also pronounced dead at the scene

The Ohio State Highway Patrol has identified the five people who died in a Clermont County crash early Sunday morning.

The crash occurred between two vehicles on state Route 28 at Edenton Pleasant Plain Road in Goshen Township at approximately 1:43 a.m., highway patrol said in a news release.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2005 Chrysler 300, driven by 25-year-old Mathew Penny of Cincinnati, was traveling northeast on state Route 28 while a 2007 Subaru Legacy, driven by 43-year-old Dustin McDole of Goshen, was traveling northwest on Edenton Pleasant Plain Road.

Penny struck McDole’s vehicle as it was attempting to cross state Route 28, causing both vehicles to travel off the north side of the roadway into a ditch and an embankment, the release said.

Both Penny and McDole were pronounced dead at the scene by the Clermont County Coroner’s Office.

Two passengers in the Chrysler, 19-year-old Chloe Love of Loveland and 18-year-old Dezmen Jernigan of Goshen, were also pronounced dead at the scene. A third passenger was transported to University of Cincinnati Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

A passenger in the Suburu, 42-year-old Andrea Iery of Pleasant Plain, was pronounced dead at the scene as well.

Both McDole and Iery were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, the release said.

Assisting agencies on scene were the Goshen Police Department, Goshen Township Fire & EMS, Warren County EMS, Loveland/Symmes Township EMS and the Clermont County Coroner’s Office.
