It all started before sunrise. Heavy rain poured through the night, turning quiet country roads into dangerous rivers.
First rescue: Just before 5:00 a.m., emergency teams rushed to County Road 10.
A driver trapped in rising water was saved thanks to quick-thinking responders — and a brave neighbor who brought equipment to help.
Second rescue turns tragic: About an hour and a half later, another vehicle got stranded on County Road 41. Two people were inside. One made it out safely… but Cohen did not. His body was found a short time later, confirmed by County Coroner Adam Downs.
Sheriff Jon Daniel shared his sadness:
“This is deeply tragic. Floodwaters can turn deadly in seconds. Our prayers are with Cohen’s family.”
Firefighters, emergency teams, and neighbors all worked together that morning, but the fast-moving water was too strong.
