Christopher Michael Elder, also known as Chris Elder, has been identified as the Hardin County gunman who shot three people this morning.

Christopher Michael Elder was last seen fleeing in a silver 2000 Hyundai but may have switched to a red 2024 Toyota Camry.

At the moment, the condition of the three victims has not been released.

Police have said this was a targeted shooting.

When officers arrived at the scene they discovered that three people had been shot.

The shooting took place in a parking lot of the courthouse and shots were first reported at around 9 am.

All schools in the area have been placed on a soft lockdown as a precaution.

This news was shared via Elizabethtown Independent School District’s social media.

A soft lockdown means there is no immediate threat to students or staff in schools.

There is, however, a threat or concern in the area.

School personnel are following emergency procedures.

Kentucky State Police troopers are helping at the scene, reports have said.

They have encouraged everyone in the area to shelter in place.
