Ghanaian striker Caleb Ekuban is set for a spell on the sidelines after undergoing surgery on a niggling injury

Caleb Ekuban, who has been immense for Trabzonspor this season has had a setback after he injured his foot in training

The 25-year old was then flown to Italy, where he had the surgery done. As a result, he will now be out of action for close to 8 weeks.

This means he will most certainly miss Trabzonspor’s first few games in the Europa league as well as the Black Stars’ qualifiers next month and possibly in November.

Trabzonspor’s club doctor confirmed the news of the successful surgery to the official club website.

Before his injury, Ekuban had a brilliant start to the season, scoring a hattrick in the qualification stages of the Europa league.

The former Leeds United striker seemed to be finding his best form in Turkey before this setback.

At the international level, he recently made his Ghana debut in a 1-0 win over Kenya at Accra in March.

Ekuban then made the 23 man list for the AFCON and made two appearances, infamously missing a decisive penalty in the round of 16 game against Tunisia.

The road to recovery begins now with the young striker determined to come back stronger.
